Gnosis is, according to the Sacred Texts, the Knowledge, descended from the mysterious and hidden Wisdom, through an Oral Tradition which vivifies the Letter. Oriental Orthodoxy was able to conserve intact this Tradition under the shelter of hermetism. However, if this has constituted a safeguard since millenaries, the circumstances today have changed. At the actual turning of History, as at the advent of Christ, the curtain is partially lifted. Thus, the researches are facilitated for those who want to grasp the real meaning of life, those who want to understand the task incumbent on man in the Era, on the threshold of which we find ourselves. God says: “I am the Alpha and the Omega the Beginning and the End”. Between those limits, man occupies an intermediary position. He proceeds from the Alpha, the subjective perishable love. It is the purpose of Gnosis to indicate, in accordance with this Tradition, the Way that leads man towards the Omega that symbolizes the Love that is objective, imperishable, vanquisher of Death. EXOTERISM – MESOTERISM – ESOTERISM The plan of our work, in three volumes, has been conceived according to the nature of esoteric teaching, in a gradation, which is moreover similar to that generally adopted by the positive education in the world. The first stage, the exoteric cycle, (Gnosis volume 1) corresponds to primary education and has for its goal, to provide the disciple with the instrument of work. The second stage, the mesoteric cycle, (Gnosis volume 2), corresponds to secondary education, and its object is to provide the disciple, who has assimilated the exoteric cycle, with a minimum of elements which, when assimilated in their turn, can give him a basis for the ulterior development of his general esoteric culture. The mesoteric cycle is driven in a manner to give the disciple the means to deepen the taught subject, this allows him to undertake researches in the domain of pure esoteric science, as well as in whichever branch of positive science he is familiar with. This level corresponds to the crowning of secondary education (high school diploma, maturity) and gives access to the superior teaching, the stage that demands an active participation of the student. The third stage, the esoteric cycle, strictly speaking (Gnosis volume 3) corresponds precisely to the positive higher education. The latter is always specialized; the same applies in Esoterism. As in positive Science, the Gnosis includes several sectors, the diverse branches of Knowledge. In the transitory period in which we find ourselves today, between the Cycle of the Son, which is coming to an end, and that of the Holy Spirit which is approaching, the superior esoteric teaching is oriented towards the immediate and most urgent needs of the Cause. But then, in esoteric matters, the aptitude of the disciple is not measured solely by bookish knowledge. That is to say, Knowledge without Know-How is insufficient, especially if we consider the needs of the epoch. As for the disciple, now more than ever, he cannot progress if he does not serve efficaciously the Cause by a personal contribution to the success of the Transition.
